Denkavit introduces grain protein concentrate: an innovative and sustainable European protein source for piglet feed
Voorthuizen – Denkavit is launching an innovative raw material for the Denkapig range: grain protein concentrate. This new protein source, of European origin, developed from grain by-products, offers a sustainable alternative to more traditional protein sources such as soy protein concentrate (SPC) in piglet feed, without compromising the performance of young piglets.
Sustainability without compromising performance
This new raw material, grain protein concentrate, has been extensively tested at the Denkafarm Innovation Centre, the Pig Farm. Research shows that grain protein concentrate not only maintains the growth and health of piglets, but also makes a significant contribution to sustainability*. The use of this raw material reduces the Carbon Feed Print (CFP) of piglet feed by replacing part of the soy.
Advantages grain protein concentrate:
- Lower CO₂ footprint: up to 7 times more sustainable than SPC
- Circular raw material: produced from grain by-products
- Proven performance: equal or better growth, feed intake and feed conversion
- Non-GMO
By using this new raw material, we are taking a major step towards a more sustainable portfolio. Our mission is to offer innovative solutions that contribute to responsible livestock farming without compromising animal performance.
Application in piglet feed range
In the coming period, Denkavit will use the grain protein concentrate in its prestarter and weaning feed portfolio to replace part of the soy, resulting in a lower CO2 footprint and more sustainable piglet feed!

*According to the Dutch Nevedi protocol ‘Carbon Footprint Calculation’.
